WOMEN EMPOWERMENT

With the goal of boosting women’s participation in socio-cultural life through meaningful dialogue and engagement, Live Room has continuously worked to ensure gender balance among our community members. Since our launch, we have recognized that the absence of women in socio-cultural spaces is a significant loss for society, leading us to invest in several impactful initiatives:

BlaBla+ Interactive Series (2019–2024)

live TV show that explored key gender-related themes through a mix of humor and in-depth analysis. Each episode featured a dynamic blend of expert speakers, public opinion polls, street interviews, and trending online discussions, offering diverse perspectives.

The first nine episodes tackled crucial topics such as women’s liberty, harassment, sex education, positive masculinity, bullying, divorce & marriage, and more. The show welcomed renowned guests, including Khadija Tnana, Doc Samad, Zineb Fassiki, Soufian Hennani, and Princesa Tanja, making it a significant platform for gender discourse in the region.

#NoSkaTrapChallenge (2022) – Rap for Gender Equality

hybrid-format rap competition (online & offline) designed to foster gender equality through creative expression. Over 100 young rappers from northern Morocco participated in this initiative, organized in collaboration with the Union of Feminist Action (UAF), FLDF, ATED, AIDA, and funded by the Spanish Agency for International Development Cooperation (AECID).

The competition culminated in a live final at LABO studios, featuring top local rappers, where Merry was awarded as the winner. Following the event, two singles addressing gender issues were produced for the top three finalists, ensuring the project’s impact extended beyond the competition.

MRA Festival (2023) – First Major Women’s Festival in Tangier

In collaboration with AIDA, UAF, and the Spanish EmbassyLive Room played a key role in organizing Tangier’s first large-scale festival exclusively dedicated to women. Over three days, the festival featured:

  • Organizational and communication support from our team.
  • A stand showcasing our Otaku products.
  • performing arts show blending urban and contemporary theater & dance, addressing young women’s oppression.
  • Graffiti workshops and a mural painting project dedicated to raising awareness on gender equality.

Through these initiatives, Live Room continues to create safe, inclusive, and creative spaces where gender equality is not only discussed but actively practiced.
